The aftermath of my Cornell adventure.
Best part - I have to divide this into two parts. Academically and socially.
Of course, academically, the best part was my research itself. That's why I was there. I managed to read just about all the books I needed and then some. I've already written over 80 pages of my thesis and I also bought some books that I'm going to read here. I plan to finish writing the theoretical part no later than December so I can start the field work.
Socially, the best part was reuniting with my American family, the Schrocks, especially Laura. She was with me in Ithaca in May and then I came over to her place in July, a week before I left to Brazil. I got to meet all the family - Laura's husband and children, Jim's family and Mom and Dad. It was an unforgettable, historical day for me. We hadn't seen each other since 1989!
I loved meeting everyone, especially Kathy, Laura's daughter.
Another unforgettable moment was meeting with my old friend Kathy Ahlers. We went to NY together. It was fascinating! (see pictures on April postings)
The worst things was not being with my family. I also missed my friends a lot. The other bad part was not having a car. I definitely hate walking!
Everything else about my trip was awesome. It was worth every effort I had to make.
I guess I should thank God and CAPES for it!
